History of John Asch Roofing & Contracting
John Asch Sr., my father, started learning the trade of roofing in 1955 working throughout central New Jersey, initially for a number of new homebuilders. In those days, there were no air compressors, air guns, etc. Roofers back then became very fast at hand nailing or would have to move on to a different career.
My father became proficient at residential roofing, and after approximately 3 to 4 years of working for builders of new homes, he decided to go into business himself and began John Asch Roofing.
From those early times until 2003, my father continued to do primarily all types of residential roofing, along with gutters and siding. In 1980, I started my own separate roofing business called John Asch Contracting which was a minor distinction from my father’s business…
…With lots of energy, I quickly learned the trade and expanded rapidly. A very large repair job we tackled in only my first year in the business was a church with the slate roof that needed repairs. Here is a picture (left)…
…I also expanded into new home construction and commercial rubber roofing. Here is a modular home being installed in Monroe, NJ (right), and a torch down rubber on the New Brunswick, NJ Theological Seminary roof. (right).
After about 10 years of being a general contractor I decided to specialize in residential roofing only. I do this along with Velux skylights, gutters and similar items. In the last few decades, I have come to the conclusion that this is a lifetime endeavor and I do everything in my power to be the best roofer in New Jersey…
